Ética e Integridade Científica

  1. Commitment to Research Ethics
BJSMMS upholds the highest standards of ethical integrity in research and reporting, fully aligned with COPE, ICMJE, WAME and Brazil’s CNS 466/12 resolution .

  2. Ethical Approval and Consent

    • Human studies: require prior approval by a Research Ethics Committee (CEP/IRB), with protocol number and documented informed consent (ICF).

    • Animal studies: mandate CEUA approval and adherence to ARRIVE guidelines.
Special protections apply to vulnerable groups (children, elderly, athletes with disabilities) .

  3. Ethical Conduct in Publication
The journal prohibits plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate submission, ghost authorship and undisclosed conflicts. All manuscripts undergo similarity checks (iThenticate, Turnitin) and misconduct is managed per COPE flowcharts .

  4. Authorship and Contribution
We implement the CRediT taxonomy to transparently detail each author’s role. Authorship follows ICMJE criteria: substantial contribution, drafting or critical revision, final approval, and accountability for the work .

  5. Conflict of Interest
Authors must declare any financial, academic or personal conflicts in the manuscript and submission form. Reviewers must recuse themselves from conflicted evaluations .

  6. Retractions, Corrections & Expressions of Concern
We follow COPE guidelines for article retractions, editorial corrections or issuing expressions of concern to safeguard the scientific record .

  7. Participant Rights & Privacy
Human subject research must protect participant identity, avoid unauthorized identifiable data and anonymize sensitive information whenever feasible .

  8. Reporting Misconduct
Ethical misconduct reports may be submitted to the Editorial Office (editorialbjsmms@outlook.com) and are handled confidentially and impartially under COPE protocols .

  9. Ethics Education
BJSMMS provides training, educational resources and workshops on research and publication ethics to foster transparency, integrity and open science .
